We are brilliant at multi-tasking! We’ve been handed so much, and we’ve figured out how to “get it all done” by multi-tasking.
Multi-tasking can be exhausting, draining, and overwhelming.
Multi-tasking keeps us from being present in the moment and actually decreases productivity.
We all do this as women. Myself included, and I was a master at it.
We’ve been taught and role modeled how to multi-task, and we have figured out a way to get it all done, but it’s exhausting. We wear multi-tasking like a badge of honor because we’ve had to make our lives successful, but at what cost?
When we are multi-tasking, it blocks time for us to “be” and to have think time, creative time, focus, and things that would allow for our best and brightest ideas.
It inhibits our ability to be known as valuable because we’re usually just getting it all done, becoming known as the person who can do it all.
Is that what I want to be known for? Not anymore!
It hinders our performance, makes us less efficient, and we’re more distracted. Studies also show the human brain can only focus on one thing at a time. Computers are multi-taskers, and we are women, not computers! We need time to “be,” “create,” allow, and receive.
It’s time to stop doing so we can start receiving.
MULTI-TASKING is BULL$**T!
Reduce it by learning how to:
We can set ourselves up to have more success and be more present in the moment when we practice reducing our mental load and quit multi-tasking!
Until next time…
