I first learned about sauntering when I was living in Paris working for an international French company many years ago. The French culture taught me about this little secret.
Saunter… literally means to walk in a slow, relaxed manner, without hurry or effort.
I didn’t know how to do this as a fast paced, eager, assertive woman focused on accomplishing what I needed to. I wasn’t living the moment!
When I learned the art of sauntering, it helped me to slow down and learn how to be present in the moment.
I would take time to stroll and saunter when I took walks in nature or walk the city streets where I lived or worked. Even when I was walking from place to place, I learned the art of slowing down to enjoy where I was at as I sauntered to my car, sauntered to get my coffee, sauntered from here to there “running” (sauntering) errands.
Why is this important? Why write about this? Because I was not living in my feminine. I want to always hurry, hurry, hurry. When I finally learned the art of slowing down and sauntering, I felt more aligned and fulfilled and not as hurried. I felt more intentional, peaceful and with ease, flow and grace.
How might you learn how to saunter?
Where might you need to slow down?
Sending you an abundance of love,
Susan
